A Taste of VBS
On Sunday, March 21, come experience “A Taste of VBS” in the conversation area all morning. Our Vacation Bible School theme this year is “Journey to India.” To get us all in the mood, we will have samples of Indian food and beverage, some costume pieces, Indian music, and some pieces that will help us understand Indian culture.
Another important piece of this event is your opportunity to volunteer in this Children’s ministry of First Plymouth. Helpers are needed before, during, and after VBS. Regardless of your gifts and talents and skills, your help is important for VBS to be a success. Contact Rev. Karen for more information or with any questions. VBS 2010 - Journey to India, June 21-25
It’s time to start planning for Vacation Bible School for this summer. This year we are using a web-based curriculum from the UCC Global Ministries Partnership, written jointly by the UCC and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Stories and situations from our mission partners in India have been integrated into a creative and fun learning experience for our whole congregation. Each day begins in the “airport,” where we board a “jet” and fly to India. There we will be in Cottage Families with a Cottage Parent and Grandparent in each. We will learn about Indian culture and hear the stories of Jesus as our missionaries use them. We’ll also work as the children in Cottage Families work on their farm. There are many ways you can help us even now: · Donate or loan artifacts from India for us to use. We especially need pictures, maps, and books. · Donate fabric that can be used for draping or making Indian clothing. Light, gauzy, cottons in any color will be particularly helpful. · Volunteer to staff the information table on a Sunday morning as we begin to get the word out and recruit. · Cook some Indian food for people to try. · Volunteer for the Leadership Team. · Pray for this ministry and all of those who will volunteer. Pray for the children and families we will touch. Pray that God will use us to bring good news to them. Vacation Bible School will be June 21 – 25. It is always an exciting week at First Plymouth Congregational Church, so plan now to be a part of this important ministry.
