Children's Programs

On Sunday Morning
At 9:00 a.m., children begin with their families in the first service. Following the Story for All God's Children, children leave as a group for Sunday School.
At 10:10 a.m., children begin in their classrooms. Kindergarteners, first and second graders attend Young Children's Choir Rehearsal in the Odeon Annex. Third through fifth graders go to the Odeon for the Children's Choristers Rehearsal. Teachers will accompany children to choir rehearsals so that parents may attend adult education events uninterrupted. Back to top

Special Children's Events
First Communion for First Graders - Each year first graders are invited to a special weekly study of communion  in January during the C.E. hour. At the conclusion of the eight weeks, they  celebrate communion with the congregation during a Sunday worship service. In 2010 the class will begin Sunday, January 10, at 9:00 a.m. Click here for more information.

Moving Forward in Faith For Fifth Graders - To celebrate their transition from children's to youth activities, fifth graders participate in special events throughout the year. They help staff the Can Do cart on the third Sunday of each month, which collects food, toiletries, and other necessities for distribution through Metro CareRing. They will staff the Heifer International table at the Alternative Gift Market in November, and be invited to a special spring youth event.
Vacation Bible School - The 2010 VBS will be June 21 – 25 and will take us on a journey to India. We will use a web-based curriculum from the UCC Global Ministries Partnership, written jointly by the UCC and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Stories and situations from our mission partners in India have been integrated into a creative and fun learning experience for our whole congregation.

Each day begins in the “airport,” where we board a “jet” and fly to India. There we will be in Cottage Families with a Cottage Parent and Grandparent in each. We will learn about Indian culture and hear the stories of Jesus as our missionaries use them. We’ll also work as the children in Cottage Families work on their farm.

Bible Bytes Computer Lab
The Bible Bytes Computer Lab in Room 215 is a vital component in First Plymouth's Childrens' Ministries program. Outfitted with special Bible study software, the lab uses its multimedia capabilities to communicate with our children in the languages they speak best.
